that's safe = we'll sew the arm back on later
I have malaria, typhus, diptheria, cholera, and gout = my doctor sucks
I'll remember that tomorrow = fat chance
it works fine now = until the next electrical fire (see 'no problem' above)
we'll trim the tree back = you'll have a nice stump on which to put potted plants
I'm meditating = I'm snoring
that's not hard = backbreaking work in the sun
I think my Chadian colleagues need the same thing for me. After a while you get used to it though and learn to adjust, and they learn to adjust to you.
